 'Caim' Circle

Caim

(keyem) n.

Sanctuary; an invisible circle of protection, drawn around the body with the hand, to remind one of being safe and loved, even in the darkest of times . (Scots Gaelic)

 Why grief?

We have been hearing the whispers inviting us to hold space in circle for grief, it feels like it is part of the medicine we need right now. We invite you to join us.

We are aware that this prospect might feel a little scary. In truth, at first, we were not sure ourselves .  However, it feels like this this is how life is asking to live through us, we are trusting that.

Part of us might want to avoid the pain of grief (understandably). We might wonder if we touch into grief, will we ever be able to come back out of it?

However, in his brilliant book the Wild Edge of Sorrow Francis Weller says that “contrary to our fears, grief is suffused with life force”. “Our ability to know love, joy, warmth, intimacy, delight, and wonder depends on a heart aroused, open and available to the beauty and sorrow of the world. A heart shrouded in untended grief and trauma will struggle to remain receptive to being fully alive. There is an ancient relationship between grief and joy, sorrow and aliveness”

You may know exactly what your grief relates to or you may feel completely in the dark. Francis Weller talks of many different types of grief, including mourning someone you love, sorrow for the world or something we expected and did not receive. If you are feeling the pull to be with us, we invite you to join us.

Who?

You are so welcome here (places limited to 12) in whatever way you are relating (or not relating) to grief

What?

We will take three hours where we weave a container together

We will go slowly together over this sacred ground

We will resource each other

We will connect with the ancient wisdom in our bones that knows how to support each other. If we stumble into something that feels overwhelming we orientate each other back to solid ground.

We are simply inviting the possibility of connecting with grief ,and in doing so perhaps opening the possibility of living more fully.

If it feels right, you are invited to bring along an object you find resourcing as well as one that might connect you to your grief. You might bring one or the other or neither, this is just an invitation.

Each person will be invited to take a few minutes to be held in the awareness of the group. You can speak or if you prefer you can simply stay in silence and be held in the group or you may opt not to do either. We will be enlivening choice as much as possible.

We will have a little Samhain themed alter and you are invited to put objects on the alter along with a lighted candle.  There will be an invitation to bring the candle home, so the light we shared, can be rekindled at home.

Part of our resourcing will be the sharing of food and we invite you to bring along food that connects you to love, warmth and joy. Again this is just invitation, there is no expectation.

“Let there be an opening into the quiet that lies beneath the chaos, where you find the peace you did not think possible and see what shimmers within the storm”
